They originally performed covers of Simon-Garfunkel songs, but soon began producing their own original blend of folk/folk rock music combining unique melodies, captivating vocal and instrumental arrangements and powerful poignant lyrics that challenge people to listen to what they have to say. Maeran also produce Christmas music and have 5 CD's of original work. Such notable singers as Maddy Prior of Steeleye Span have paid tribute to the quality and appeal of their Christmas songs. Their most recent Christmas albumn 'Room at the inn' included stunning vocal arrangements reminiscent of the early English madrigals. Maeran are recognised ostensibly as a songwriting partnership, but they do perform their own work mainly for the purpose of supporting charities. The frequent comparisons with songwriters like Paul Simon and Cat Stevens are considered by Dom and Steve as highly complimentary. They have a very loyal fan base who frequently demand new material and they always seek to oblige.
